The bridal salon is currently has part-time openings for a seasonal customer service representative, wedding sales stylist, alterations customer service representative and weekend wedding sales. Menards in Evergreen Park has a slot for manager trainee fast-tracked to a Menards management position. The program is very structured and well defined to help prepare trainees for a career in retail management. After the three-and-a-half-month comprehensive program, trainees will be promoted to the position of assistant manager. Trainees may train at any store in their area, but should be prepared to relocate regionally. A college degree is not required. The Palos Hills Police Department is looking for crossing guards for the upcoming school year. Crossing guards work Monday through Friday, from 8 to 8:30 a.m., and from 2:40 to 3 p.m. Pay is $20.20 per day worked. Apply at the police station at 8555 W. 103rd St., Palos Hills.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security will be hosting hiring events around the Chicago area throughout the summer. Find an event near you or for another friend or family members.

The Village of Orland Park and Operation Job Ready Veterans are hosting a free, five-day seminar for all area veterans to ease the transition into civilian employment. The seminar focuses on resume writing, job interviewing skills, networking and more, from Aug. 14 to Aug. 18. Eighty-three percent of veterans who complete the course find themselves employed within a month. Read more about it.

Sen. Bill Cunningham and Rep. Kelly Burke are partnering with the Illinois Department of Employment Security will be hosting a job fair at Greater Walters AME Zion Church, 8422 Damen Ave., Chicago. The fair takes place from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 24.
