Man Files False Police Report Describing Suspect Who Resembles Himself: Prosecutor

Man told Burbank Police he saw a guy with dreadlocks picking up a gun from parking lot, prosecutor said.

Burbank, IL -- An East Peoria man was arrested after he filed a false police report to Burbank police describing a suspect who resembled himself picking up a gun, prosecutors said Wednesday in court.

According to the charges, Furman Hister, 19, called 911 around 11 a.m. June 28 to report seeing a African American man with dreadlocks picking up a gun in parking lot on the 5400 block of West State Road.

Prosecutors said that Hister further described the suspect as wearing a gray t-shirt. Since Hister matched the suspect’s description, he was detained by Burbank police when they showed up at the scene.

Hister allegedly denied making the phone call. After obtaining the caller’s number from dispatch, officers dialed the number, which rang in Hister’s pocket.

Eventually, Hister admitted to police that he had made the call, prosecutors. Said.
Hister was charged with filing a false police report.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice released Hister on a $10,000 I-bond and ordered random drug testing.
Hister’s next court date is July 8.
