Man Posing as 'Inspector' Robs Senior Citizen in Home

Oak Lawn police seek information about Thursday robbery where male subject posing as inspector robbed an 88-year-old man in his apartment.

Oak Lawn police are looking for a man who posed as an inspector and robbed an 88-year-old man in his home on Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:45 p.m., police responded to the 4000 block of 103rd Street and spoke to an 88-year-old resident of an apartment building.

Police said the 88-year-old man answered a knock at his door and encountered a heavy set, African-American male wearing an orange vest, who said he was an inspector and needed to access the unit.

The subject entered the residence and looked around for a brief period and then forced the elderly man to the floor and took money from him.

Anyone with information about the incident or saw suspicious persons or vehicles in that neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, is asked to call Oak Lawn Police Detective Tom Nelson at 708-499-7812.
