Mariah Bashir, MD, Neuroradiology Specialist, Joins Loyola

Mariah Bashir, MD, of Oak Brook, a radiologist who specializes in neuroradiology, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Mariah Bashir, MD, of Oak Brook, a radiologist who specializes in neuroradiology, has joined Loyola Medicine.

Neuroradiologists focus on abnormalities of the head, neck, brain and spine. This includes back
pain, infections, tumors, strokes and vascular diseases.

Dr. Bashir is an assistant professor in the department of radiology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She will work with Loyola’s multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, spine surgeons, otolaryngologists and radiation oncologists at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and at the Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge. Dr. Bashir is an assistant professor in the department of radiology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

Dr. Bashir interprets magnetic resonance images (MRIs), computed tomography (CT) scans and other studies to help in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions. “I look at these as my patients not just as diagnostic studies,” Dr. Bashir said. “I read a study as if it were from a family member.”

Improving technology is enabling radiologists to perform scans more quickly, so patients do not have to hold
still for as long, and the resulting images are sharper and clearer, Dr. Bashir said.

Dr. Bashir Illinois, earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois. She completed a residency in radiology at the University of Louisville and completed a two-year fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. She is board certified in diagnostic radiology.
