Meatheads at Stony Creek Promenade to Host Grand Opening

The grand opening March 30 in Oak Lawn will mark Meatheads' 16th restaurant.

Meatheads at Stony Creek Promenade will host a grand opening event at 11 a.m. March 30 to celebrate its 16th location.

The Meatheads restaurant, located at 11026 S Cicero Ave., is 2,000 square feet with seats for 90 customers, plus a patio area. It will serve burgers, fries, veggie melts, hand-dipped milkshakes and more, according to a news release.

Meghan Thornton, Meatheads field marketing manager, said they chose to open in Oak Lawn “because of the exciting development of the Stony Creek Promenade and the tightly knit sense of community.”

Proceeds from the pre-opening weekend will support the Oak Lawn Park District, St. Catherine of Alexandria and Oak Lawn Baseball.

Thornton said the Oak Lawn restaurant is fully staffed, but Meatheads is always accepting applications.

All Meatheads locations are currently featuring a Bickell Dog, created by Bryan Bickell of the Chicago Blackhawks, until May 3.

Purchase of a Bickell Dog supports The Bryan and Amanda Bickell Foundation for the ethical treatment of pit bulls, Thornton said, and customers who order a Bickell Dog have a chance to win autographed items. The hot dog has a cheddar bun, a footlong Vienna dog, chili and Fritos.

Meatheads operates the following charity programs, according to the release:

  • Meatheads of the Month: Recognizes exceptional local high school athletes who demonstrate determination, hustle and hard work. Every month athletes from local high schools are selected to be nominees, the public votes and once selected the picture of the athlete is proudly displayed in a Meatheads store for the year.
  • Voracious Reading Program: Summer reading program that encourages kids to read more books. This year, 150,000 kids will be participating in the program.
  • Meathead of the Game: Meatheads celebrates young athletes in organized sports who choose to participate in real games, rather than play video games and is designed to reward determination, hustle and hard work in local youth athletes.
  • On-Site Fundraising: Meatheads offers non-profit groups, schools and other community organizations the opportunity to raise funds by having a fundraiser at a local Meatheads store.

Regular restaurant hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
