Men Arrested After Exploring Roof of Kolmar School: Cops
Explorer tells police climbing on roof was better than drinking or smoking weed like everyone else does, cops say.

Oak Lawn, IL, June 22, 2016 -- Three men were arrested after they were found wandering around the roof of a local school, reports said.
Oak Lawn police responded to a report of two people on the roof of Kolmar Elementary School, 10425 S. Kolmar Ave. around 2:07 a.m. June 16.
Officers established a perimeter around the school when they saw a third person on the roof close to 104th Street and Kilbourn Avenue.
The man told police his two friends were also on the roof and all three were ordered to come down, police said.
After the three climbed down an electrical police attached to the wall of the school, the men were detained and handcuffed until a Dist. 123 official arrived.
The men were identified as Marcus J. Baker Jr., 19, Benjamin Flores, 19, and Jacob Lange, 19, all of Oak Lawn. The three were taken to the Oak Lawn police station.
According to the report, Baker explained that he and his friends have been spending their excessive free time exploring places where they really shouldn’t be at, but didn’t think they would get into trouble because they weren’t hurting anyone.
Baker allegedly told police he felt it was better to climb on the school roof as opposed to sitting somewhere smoking weed or drinking alcohol like everyone does.
While searching Baker, police said they found a debit card imprinted with a woman’s name. Baker claimed he found the debit card while exploring an abandoned car dealership in Crestwood, reports said.
Police contacted Chase Bank, who had no record of the cardholder. The cardholder’s phone number in Midlothian was also disconnected.
All three were charged with one count each of criminal trespassing to government supported land. They have a court hearing July 15 in Bridgeview.
