Miracle Poodle Recovering From Surgery After Being Dropped Off Parking Garage
Surgery to repair Angel the miracle dog's leg is a success.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL -- The tiny toy poodle that survived being tossed off a parking garage is doing well after surgery. Angel and his canine father, Guero, were discovered on May 20 on the Advocate Christ Medical Center campus in Oak Lawn. Both dogs had been dropped five stories by a man who has since been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
Guero died when he hit the concrete, but Angel landed on the grass and miraculously survived. Angel was brought to the Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge after suffering broken legs and head trauma. The 1-year-old poodle’s surgery to repair his broken leg was a success. The owner of the dogs’ family has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Angel’s medical costs.
“Angel's surgery went well. He is in surgical recovery,” the owner’s niece wrote on GoFundMe. “My family and I were able to see him for a little while today and looked in good spirits when he saw us. We will be back to see him tomorrow and make sure he is recovering well.”

On Wednesday, the owner and his niece visited Angel at Animal Welfare League, where he is recovering from surgery.
“Today he had another visit from his family and loved every minute of it,” said a post on AWL’s Facebook page. “Angel’s owner and the owner’s niece spent time hugging and kissing their sweet little dog. Angel wanted to be in his owner’s arms only. When his owner tried setting him down to give his arms a brief rest, Angel jumped back up into the arms. Still having that puppy personality he is truly his dad’s ‘little Angel.’”

Angel’s family set a fundraising goal of $3,000, which has already been exceeded. The family has since upped the goal to $5,000. Sweyzen Sanchez, the owner’s niece, said any money left over after Angel’s medical needs will be donated to Animal Welfare League.
