Monday Funeral Set for Barb Duffy
Barb Duffy, loving wife and mother of three, educator and friend to many lost her three-year battle with ALS on Nov. 3.
Hundreds of mourners stood in line outside of on Sunday afternoon to pay tribute to a popular parishioner who inspired them her courage, grace and faith in the face of death.
Barbara “Barb” Duffy, 50, passed away on Nov. 3 after a three-year battle with ALS. Her blog—Barb’s Blog—on her struggles with terminal illness and ruminations on faith inspired many friends, family members and strangers alike.
During Mrs. Duffy’s illness, friends and neighbors held numerous benefits in her honor. In September, she participated in the Les Turner ALS Walk for Life from her wheelchair, along with dozens of family members, friends and supporters.

Mrs. Duffy was born Feb. 26, 1961 and grew up in Evergreen Park. She taught in the Oak Lawn Public School system, and most recently, was the learning resource director at .

She was a graduate of St. John Fisher Grammar School, , Illinois State University and where she received a master’s in education administration.
Mrs. Duffy leaves her husband, Daniel, children Luke, Allie and Emily, mother Delores, six siblings, extended family and many friends.
Barb Duffy’s life will be celebrated in a funeral mass to take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Linus Church, 10400 S. Lawler Ave. (103rd Street and Lawler Avenue). Arrangements are being made by .

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be made in Mrs. Duffy’s name to the The ALS Les Turner Foundation, 5550 W. Touhy Ave., Suite 302, Skokie, IL 60077.
