Oak Lawn Kmart Store Closing
The Kmart store in Oak Lawn is included on a list of 28 more stores to be closed by Sears Holding Corp.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Twenty-eight more Sears-owned Kmart stores will soon close in addition to the 180 company stores already announced this year. The Oak Lawn Kmart at 95th Street and Pulaski was included on Sears Holdings Corp's list of stores that will close their doors this year.
Thanks in part to shoppers migrating to the web from malls and big box stores, Sears sales at stores open for at least a year fell 11.5 percent in the second quarter ended July 29, the company announced.
Total revenue fell 22 percent to $4.37 billion, mainly due to store closures, which shaved off $770 million of revenue, the company said.

Dozens of Sears and Kmart stores have already closed this year as the company tries to overcome steep losses in sales and huge operating costs. The company announced that liquidation sales could begin as early at Aug. 31. The stores are slated to close by mid-November.
Oak Lawn at one time had two Kmart stores. In 2012, the Kmart store at 111th Street and Cicero was closed and ultimately demolished to make way for the Stony Creek Promenade, anchored by Mariano’s and Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant.
