Motorcyclist Dies In Bridgeview Crash, Driver of Car Charged With DUI: Police

Driver was turning into driveway on Roberts Road when motorcyclist crashed into vehicle, Bridgeview police said.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A Blue Island man died early Sunday morning when his motorcycle crashed into a car turning into a driveway in Bridgeview. The deceased motorcyclist has been identified as 24-year-old Jose Manuel Perez Sanchez. The driver of the car has since been charged with driving under the influence, Bridgeview police said.

The accident happened around 5 a.m. Sunday in the 7200 block of South Roberts Road. The motorcyclist was traveling northbound when it crashed into a car driven by Jesus Solis, 45, as it was turning into a driveway. Solis resides in Bridgeview.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was going at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the car. The traffic crash is under investigation by the Bridgeview Police Department with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.

After reviewing the facts, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges against the driver. Solis was charged with aggravated driving under the influence in an accident causing death. He is being held in Cook County Jail without bond following an appearance Tuesday at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building. Solis's next court appearance is July 11 in Bridgeview.
