Nephew Charged In Stabbing Attack On Uncle: Bridgeview Police

A 23-year-old Bridgeview man is being held without bail on charges of aggravated domestic battery.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL —A 23-year-old man is accused of stabbing his 69-year-old uncle early Thursday morning as he slept in what Bridgeview police say was a domestic incident.

Ishaq Atik appeared in court Friday on charges of aggravated domestic battery. He is being held in Cook County Jail without bail. Atik resides in the 8500 block of 78th Avenue in Bridgeview. He shares the same address as his uncle.

At 12:53 a.m., officers went to the 8500 block of 78th Avenue for a reported domestic stabbing. According to police, a 69-year-old man was asleep when his nephew entered his room and stabbed him. The man suffered stab wounds to his neck. Officers were able to apprehend the nephew as he was leaving the home, police said.

Both the uncle and nephew were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The uncle is in fair condition and expected to make a full recovery. His nephew suffered cuts to his hands possibly from the knife, and is in good condition.
