New Halloween Haunt 'KillDare City' Auditioning Actors

Open auditions for actors are Sept. 16 through Sept.19, or by appointment for KillDare Haunted City's first Halloween season in Bridgeview.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL — Want to get involved in the community and scare the snot out of residents at the same time? Or maybe you just want to act? Chicagoland’s newest haunt is auditioning actors for its first Halloween season in Bridgeview.

Tim O’Connell has moved his KillDare Haunted City out of his back yard in Oak Lawn and has taken over a former kiddie safety town behind the Bridgeview Park District building at 8110 S. Ferdinand Ave.

If you’ve been wanted to become part of a haunt this Halloween, KillDare is having open auditions at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 through Sept. 19. Actor training is provided.

Folks auditioning might be asked what their favorite scary movie is, or come up with ten creative scary ideas for a prop, such as a tube sock.

Actor candidates will also be given a tour of the haunt-in-progress, that features an actual caboose, corn maze, toxic clown circus, a flying nun, hillbilly trailer and lunging animatronics, to see where they might fit into the attraction. O’Connell is also interested in hearing your own ideas. (We suggested a character under the control of a Bill Gates microchip from a COVID-19 vaccination.)

KillDare Haunted City will run from 7 to 11 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October. There is a dry run, dress rehearsal scheduled for Sept. 25. Opening night is Oct. 1. Admission to the attraction is $20.

O’Connell hopes to enter the season with 50 actors, knowing that some people may not be able to make all the performances.
