Oak Lawn 2019 Election Voter's Guide

Where's my polling place, who's on the ballot, can I still register to vote and other helpful information for the April 2, 2019 election.

Oak Lawn voters are heading to the polls to cast ballots for candidates running for village board seats, school boards, park commissioners and the library trustees. Early voting will continue through the weekend at village hall, ending Monday, April 1 at 5. p.m..

Polls reopen at 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, throughout the village at 6 a.m. closing at 7 p.m. Then the excitement begins as we wait for the numbers to come in. So far, turnout for the 2019 Consolidated Election hasn’t been a record-breaker. As of Thursday, 786 ballots have been cast thus far at Oak Lawn Village Hall, bearing in mind that people can vote at any early voting location in Cook County. County-wide, 40,650 early votes have been cast in suburban Cook County.

Candidates are running for local offices -- many of them your neighbors -- that are responsible for overseeing millions of tax dollars of your hard-earned money. So get out there and vote.

Early Voting Locations And Hours

There are 51 early voting locations in suburban Cook County. Find a convenient location near you and hours on the Cook County Clerk’s website. Early voting is available over the weekend through 7 p.m. Monday, April 1.

Not Registered To Vote?

You can register to vote at ALL early voting locations in suburban Cook County or the Cook County Administration Building in downtown Chicago at 69 W. Washington St. Grace period registrants must cast their ballots immediately upon registering.

Bring in two pieces of ID one of which shows your current address, such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, utility bill (gas or electric), paycheck stub, bank statement, etc.

Although a government-issued photo ID is not required, it’s helpful if there is a question about your voter registration, address or signature. It can also speed up the registration process.

Residents can also still register to vote on April 2, but you have to register at your home precinct/polling place, by bringing two pieces of the aforementioned ID, one of which showing your current address. Election Day-registrants must cast their ballot immediately upon registration.

If you’re voting on Tuesday, April 2, and aren’t sure of the location of your polling place, you can find it on the Cook County Clerk’s website by entering your address, or call the Oak Lawn Village Clerk’s office at 708-499-7738.
