Reyes Rallies For Oak Lawn Spartans Athlete of the Week

Each week the Athletic Department selects a Spartan Athlete of the Week. The recipient for the week of February 24 is senior boys basketball player David Reyes.

During the last three South Suburban Conference Red games, Reyes averaged more than 17.5 points per game, including racking up 20 points in each of the last two games against Reavis and Eisenhower. He also led the team this season in assists, averaging more than 3.5 per game. Capping off the excellent season, Reyes earned SSC Red All-Conference honors.

“In addition to his offensive prowess, he continues to play inspired basketball on the defensive end, routinely doing a great job on the opponent’s best perimeter player,” said head coach Jason Rhodes. “We would not have had the type of season we’ve had without David’s important contributions.”

Other nominees for Spartan Athlete of the Week included Salsabeel Awwad (Girls Track) and Ozzie Gamboa (Boys Track).
