Oak Lawn Cops Issue 135 Tickets During IL Child Passenger Safety Week
Oak Lawn police stepped up enforcement of child passenger safety laws during the ten day traffic safety campaign, Sept. 20 to Sept. 30.
OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police stepped up enforcement of child passenger safety laws during Illinois Child Passenger Safety Week to help ensure the safety of young children traveling through the village. Officers issued 135 tickets between Sept. 20 and Sept. 30.
“One of the simplest ways to protect your child passengers is to make sure they’re in the right
seats and that the seats are installed correctly,” said Sgt. Nick Kumke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department.

The STEP campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the
Illinois Department of Transportation.
