Oak Lawn Cops Plan Fourth of July DUI Crackdown
Oak Lawn police will putting on extra patrols through July 8 to monitor impaired and distracted drivers.

OAK LAWN, IL – You can't watch fireworks from a jail cell. The Oak Lawn Police Department will be cracking down on impaired and distracted drivers over the Fourth of July holiday through July 8. Police will also be pulling vehicles over if they notice occupants not wearing seatbelts.
The Independence Day holiday is one of the deadliest times of the year on Illinois roads. Oak Lawn police are joining the Illinois State Police and more than 150 local police and sheriff’s departments for the increased statewide enforcement effort.
If you are drunk or impaired by marijuana or other drugs, call a taxi, take mass transit, use your favorite ride-sharing service, or call a sober friend or family member to get you home safely.

Promptly report drunk drivers to law enforcement by pulling over and dialing 911. You can pretty much count on police in other nearby communities out patrolling the roadways.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers a SaferRide mobile app that allows users to call a taxi or a predetermined friend. The app identifies the user’s location so he or she can be picked up.
