Oak Lawn-Hometown SD 123 students and staff gazed at the sky in awe and excitement as the solar eclipse reached 95% partiality.

The temperature cooled, the sky darkened, and curious eyes looked up to the sky to witness the Great North American Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
As the Chicago area reached 95% partiality, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 students and staff watched the spectacle with their protective eyeglasses and were amazed at this once-in-a-generation occurrence.
Erin McElroy from WGNTV visited Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School, and a live segment aired during WGN's solar eclipse coverage. Students were eager to share how they prepared for the eclipse, what they learned, and how they felt after the experience.
