OAK LAWN, IL — The Village of Oak Lawn has set Saturday, June 29 as the date for the Independence Day parade and post-parade concert featuring Five Guys Named Moe on the village green. The festivities are presented by the Oak Lawn Arts and Events Commission.

Floats, decorated vehicles, walkers, bikes, and anything that provides music and entertainment to the hundreds of people who line the parade route. There will be a maximum of 75 parade entries. No applications will be accepted once the parade is full.

Applications can be found online on the village website. There is no fee to participate in the parade.

The following rules and requirements apply:

  • Participation is restricted to entries that include no less than ten (10) people and/or at least one vehicle.
  • A maximum of TWO decorated vehicles per group will be allowed.
  • Parade placement is based upon space, number of participants, and entertainment.
  • Parking is available at the Village Hall lot at 9446 Raymond Avenue; shuttle service will be provided.
  • Please specify other vehicle types on your application such as bus, float, trailer, etc.
  • Parade line up spaces are limited to the number of vehicles and description specified on your application.
  • All entries must be decorated to participate in the parade (i.e., decorated banners, streamers, balloons, stars, red/white/blue decorations, and so on). Novelty units are the ONLY exception to this rule.
  • No use of water pistols or water guns of any kind can be used during the parade.
  • Candy must be HANDED to parade spectators. Please share this rule with all your participants.
  • Information (bullet points) on your entry must be included in the application for our announcers to read..
  • Only parade entries will be allowed in staging. There is no other available parking at the staging area.

Parade details and information about your unit number, assigned arrive time, drop off location and staging guidelines will be sent via email.

The parade route is approximately one mile long. Staging is at 94th Street and Cicero Avenue on the Northwestern College campus. The parade route starts at 95th Street and 49th Avenue and proceeds west to 95th Street and 55th Court.

95th Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic Saturday, June 29 starting at 2 p.m., from Cicero Avenue to Central Avenue. The village parking lot and commuter lots including Metra Patriot Parking Tower will remain fully accessible for parade and concert parking.
