Oak Lawn Man Calls Cops to Say 'There's A Bomb' Outside the Police Station: Prosecutor
Judge increases bail for man accused of making phony bomb threat, says judges at 26th and California "don't listen to all the facts."

David Schoenecker, 29 | Cook County Sheriff
Oak Lawn, IL, June 17, 2016 -- A Cook County judge increased bail for a man accused of phoning in a phony bomb threat at the Oak Lawn police station, prosecutors said.
David Schoenecker, 29, appeared before Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of disorderly conduct after his case was transferred to Bridgeview from 26th and California. Schoenecker was also charged with misdemeanor phone harassment and resisting arrest.
According to the charges, Schoenecker made several calls to Oak Lawn police on June 10, first claiming that his girlfriend stole his car. He called four more times, to say there was a “bomb on the right side of the weeds” outside the police station at 9466 S. Raymond Ave.
The fifth time he called, prosecutors said that Schoenecker told police that the bomb was about to explode outside.
Bail for Schoenecker had been set at $10,000 at 26th and California. Judge Felice thought the bond was too low. Schoenecker told the judge he planned to hire a private attorney.
The assistant public defender said that after the phone calls, Schoenecker was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
“He must be okay if they let him out,” Judge Felice said. “I think this is way to low given the circumstances, especially with what is happening in this country. That’s the problem [at 26th and California], they don’t listen to the prosecutors or to all the facts.”
The judge increased Shoenecker’s bail from $10,000 to $30,000, and he was taken into custody.
Schoenecker is due back in court June 30 in Bridgeview.
