Oak Lawn National Night Out 2021
Promoting the Positive Relationship between Neighbors and Law Enforcement

Since 1984, police departments and communities across the United States have held National Night Out events on the first Tuesday in August. More than 38 million neighbors in 16,000 communities throughout the nation will participate in National Night Out, promoting the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
On Tuesday- August 3, 2021 the Oak Lawn Police and Oak Lawn Fire Department had a lot of activities for community members: a chance to watch a car extrication, police dept jail tours, fire dept tours, opportunity to sit in various police and fire vehicles and to see the Region 4 South Mobile Field Force Unit.
Also, Officer Mike Sikorski brought his Oak Lawn Police Demolition Car #327 for kids to sit in. In addition, kids could get fire department coloring books, police and fire badges and fire hats. There were even some swag for the adults too - rubber jar opener, emergency contact magnets and window stickers of how many pets are in the house. In addition, the Oak Lawn Peer Jury had a table for sign-ups, the U.S. Navy Recruiters were handing out information bags and Boy Scout Troop 596 had a food tent.
