OAK LAWN, IL -- Summer internships are available for qualified students at the Oak Lawn Park District in recreation and marketing and public relations. The final selection for summer interns will be made on April 1.

The marketing and public relations intern will assist the park district’s communications department, and more specifically, the marketing and public relations supervisor with everyday communications. Internships are open to students with a communications, marketing, or public relations major or minor. The internships can expect to get hands on work experience.

Some duties and responsibilities include developing promotional materials such as press releases, brochures and fliers, photography, attending community meetings and events, social media, planning and implementing special events and general office duties. The park district is also seeking qualified students interested in an internship in the field of recreation, sports management or a related field. Candidates will currently be attending college or be a recent graduate with a major in recreation, outdoor recreation or related field.

Candidates must be responsible, motivated, should have the ability to manage time effectively and have strong interpersonal and communication. The student will assist with the administration, supervision, and leadership of specified recreation and leisure activities of the internship. The duration of the internship is 12-16 weeks, but will ultimately be determined by the intern's school requirements. It is the student's responsibility to verify with their professors if the internship qualifies for college credit. Candidates should be prepared to work with children and adults, as well as have a valid driver’s license and transportation to work.
