Oak Lawn Park District Releases Digital 2021 Summer Camp Guide

OAK LAWN, IL — The digital Oak Lawn Park District 2021 Summer Camp Guide is now available. This summer, the park district will be offering a variety of summer camp experiences. Choose from day camp, sports camp, special recreation and specialty camps, including sports, art, drama, nature, theater and more.

Dates, times, locations, and fees vary with each camp. To view detailed camp information, please visit the summer camp guide or call 708-857-2225.

As the park district transitions back to a traditional youth day camp program in 2021, a few changes have been made in camp locations and offerings. The park district has added before and after care for all campers. Adjustments will be made as needed as pandemic conditions change, to provide a safe and positive camp experience for everyone in the community. This may include limiting group sizes, field trips or additional offerings.

Resident registration for Oak Lawn residents begins Monday, April 28; non-resident registration starts Monday, May 10. Offerings include:

Camp Runamuck, Grades K -1 — This camp is perfect for first-time campers and meets at Oak View Center (110th and Kilpatrick).

Summer Youth Day Grades 2-5 - Child should be at least age 7 by the start of camp. Sign up early, as space is limited. ( Camp Oak View Center (110th St. & Kilpatrick Ave.) and David Johnston Center (9400 S. Oak Park Ave.).

Teen Camp Grades 6-8 — Camp meets at Oak View Center (110th and Kilpatrick).

Early Riser Before Camp Care, Grades Pre-K-8 — 7 to 8:30 a.m. Campers will get a jump start on their day with camp activities, group games, playground time and independent quiet time. Register for the same locations as your full day program.

Night Owls After Camp Care, Grades PreK-8 — 2:30 to 6p.m. Campers will continue to enjoy group activities, games, as well as independent time to make crafts or color. Snacks are provided to the night owl extended campers. Register for the same locations as your full day program.

In addition to the wide array of camp offerings, the park district if recruiting teen volunteers ages 14 to 16 for its counselor-in-training program. The goal is to teach skills for future leadership positions. Teens must be mature, self-confident, reliable, and must possess the initiative and have a genuine interest in assisting counselors and site directors with daily camp activities. Applications are due by June 1 at the Oak View Center, 110th St. and Kilpatrick Ave.
