Oak Lawn Park District Taking Applications for Summer Lifeguards

Oak Lawn Park District now accepting applications for 2017 summer lifeguards.

OAK LAWN, IL -- The Oak Lawn Park District is now taking applications for lifeguard positions for the Summer 2017 Pool Season. Lifeguards are responsible to ensuring the safety of patrons, including accident prevention in the water and on surrounding pool areas, and, most important, the rescue and care of accident victims. The starting wage is $8.25 per hour.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  2. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or the ability to obtain.
  3. American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer certification or the ability to obtain.
  4. Possess the ability to swim 500 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes and the ability to retrieve a 10-lb brick from the bottom of the deep well.
  5. Ability to relate to staff and patrons in a positive manner that best represents agency.
  6. Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external customers.
  7. Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
