Oak Lawn Parks Plans Spectacular 2016 Fourth of July Star Spangled Celebration
After the parade head to Centennial Park for a full lineup of family fun on July 4, 2016. Completed schedule is included.

After the Village of Oak Lawn’s Fourth of July Parade at 10 a.m., head down to Centennial Park for a full lineup of family fun from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The celebration features adult and youth watermelon eating contests, obstacle course, kids tattoos, carnival games, tricycle car wash, jumpy houses, bingo, crafts, magician, balloon animals, conessionsions and more.
Cheer on your favorite contestant in the Oak Lawn’s Got Talent show. The winner of the afternoon contest will perform as the opening act for the evening’s fireworks show at Richards High School. The winning act also receives a private pool party and their choice of a season pass to the Oak Lawn Park District Community Theatre productions, a fitness membership or a pool membership for each performer in the act. Children ages 3 and older pay $5 for all daytime activities including access to the Centennial Aquatic Center. Adults receive free admission to daytime activities but pay the special $2 holiday rate to access pools.
Free evening entertainment will be held at the football field at Richards High School (106th Street and Central Avenue). Gates will open at 6 p.m. G.A.C. Entertainment will provide music at 7 p.m., followed by a spectacular fireworks display at dusk that is co-sponsored by the Village of Oak Lawn.
Following is a complete schedule of Star Spangled activities for July 4, 2016:
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- Gymnastics
11 a.m. -- Registration begins for the Adult (18 and up) and Youth (12 through 17) watermelon eating contest.
11:45 a.m. -- Watermelon eating contests.
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- Tennis and Pickleball
Noon to 1 p.m. -- Kin-Ball
Noon to 2 p.m. -- Archery
12:15 p.m. SHARP -- Treasure Hunt
12:45 p.m. -- Military Salute
1 to 2 p.m. -- Oak Lawn’s Got Talent
1:15 to 2 p.m. -- Dodge Ball
2 to 2:45 p.m. -- Shoot the Park
6 p.m. - Gates open at Richards High School for entertainment, evening fireworks display (106th Street and Central Avenue).
7 p.m. -- GAC Entertainment plays toe-tapping music before the village shoots the works at Richards High School..
9 p.m. -- Fourth of July Fireworks Show starts around 9 p.m./dusk, co-sponsored by the Oak Lawn Park District and Village of Oak Lawn.
