Oak Lawn Police Crack Down On Distracted Driving In April

Oak Lawn police will target hands-free cell phone violators during Distracted Driving Awareness Month throughout April.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police will be monitoring roads and streets during Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Special attention will be paid to motorists who show signs of texting while driving, applying cosmetics, or talking on their cell phones.

Motorists driving through the village can expect to see increased patrols and traffic safety enforcement zones throughout April. Oak Lawn police are partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts across the state.

“Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes on our roads today,” said Sgt. M, Acke, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “During Distracted Driving Awareness Month, law enforcement will boost enforcement efforts, stopping anyone who is texting and driving. Remember, if you have a phone in one hand, you can expect a ticket in the other.”
