Oak Lawn Police Dog Lucifer Retires
K9 officer will retire from police work to enjoy retirement as a family pet.

Oak Lawn, IL -- After eight years of free-air sniffs and chasing bad guys, Oak Lawn’s K9 officer, Lucifer, is hanging up his badge.
The Belgian Malinois was officially retired during the village board meeting on July 12, when his long-time handler, OLPD Steven McNeela, purchased Lucifer for a dollar from the Village of Oak Lawn.

During his career with the Oak Lawn Police Department, Lucifer was instrumental in countless drug seizures, DEA assists and other arrests that helped keep Oak Lawn and surrounding communities safe with his unique talents. Lucifer will enjoy retirement as the family pet of the McNeela family.
After the village board meeting, Lucifer enjoyed a few final pats on the head by his colleagues on the Oak Lawn police force in the parking lot.

“I’ll bring him around to sniff the bushes,” McNeela said.
