Oak Lawn Police Holiday DUI Enforcement Nabs 4 Drunk Drivers

Oak Lawn police announce the Christmas and New Year Day 2017 DUI and seatbelt enforcement scorecard.

OAK LAWN, IL -- The Oak Lawn Police Department completed a successful Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign over the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. From Dec. 18 through the early morning hours of Jan. 2, village police officers made four DUI arrests during campaign hours. In total, police issued 122 citations, including:

  • 95 seat belt citations
  • 4 DUI arrests
  • 3 child car seat citations
  • 2 suspended/revoked licenses
  • 5 uninsured motorists
  • 12 speeding citations
  • 1 drug arrest

“The actions of those who choose to drive impaired are selfish,” said Sgt. M. Acke, the traffic unit supervisor for the Oak Lawn Police Department. “Hopefully, these offenders now realize their actions have serious and potentially fatal consequences, and we hope they will never put themselves or others at risk by driving impaired again.”

The Drive Sober Get Pulled Over enforcement effort was made possible with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
