Oak Lawn Police Make 6 DUI Arrests, Issue 354 Seat Belt Citations

Oak Lawn police issue 434 traffic citations during the July 4th seat belt and impaired driver safety campaigns.

OAK LAWN, IL – The Oak Lawn Police Department issued 434 traffic citations during the recent Independence Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns.

Officers made six impaired driving arrests and issued 84 tickets for other traffic violations, including two arrests for driving with a suspended license or revoked driver’s license.

Exceeding the Memorial Day campaign’s 309 seat belt citation count, police wrote 354 tickets for seat belt violations, but did not exceed the July 4th enforcement total of 410 in 2021.

The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a media campaign titled, “It’s Not a Game.” The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
