In addition, 84 of seat belt citations were written — 56 of which occurred during nighttime hours. Impaired driving causes tragedies year round.
According to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 10,265 people died in impaired driving crashes on our nation’s roads in 2015.
“DUI arrests are very preventable,” said Sgt. M. Acke. “Don’t ever get behind the wheel when impaired by alcohol, drugs or both. It takes everyone doing their part to make Zero Fatalities a Reality in Illinois.”
