Oak Lawn Police Pick Up Convicted Violent Offender on Warrant: Report

Arrest warrant claims Blue Island man is non-compliant with state's violent offender registry. Offender extradited by Will County Sheriff.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A convicted felon wanted on a fugitive warrant for failure to register as a violent offender was picked up by Oak Lawn police during a traffic stop, reports said.

Oak Lawn officers on patrol ran the plate of a Mercedes Benz as it traveled southbound in the 9100 block of South Cicero Avenue around 5:49 p.m. Oct. 5. The law enforcement database returned information indicating that the driver, identified as Dominic Moore, 31, was wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Will County for failure to register with the state as a violent offender, police said.

According to the report, the driver of the Benz matched the description of the fugitive wanted by the law. Police pulled the driver over, who allegedly verified that he was Dominic Moore.

Moore’s last known address is the 2400 block of West Cochran, Blue Island, according to the Illinois Murderer/Violent Offender Registry, which shows him in compliance.

The Will County Sheriff’s office confirmed to Oak Lawn police that the warrant was active and he would be extradited. Moore is presently incarcerated in the Will County Jail, where he is being held on $75,000 bail, according to jail records.

No charges were brought against him by Oak Lawn police.

The police report noted that Moore was listed as “armed and dangerous” on the warrant. The 31-year-old Moore is currently on parole for aggravated battery with a firearm where he was serving . Moore was 19 and his victim 15 at the time of the offense.
