OAK LAWN, POLICE — Oak Lawn police released additional results from the final FY 2024 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) patrols. The two-week enforcement period was conducted from Aug. 01 to Aug. 15.

Officers issued 95 citations and made 04 arrests, stopping 75 vehicles. Activity included:

  • 14 speeding citations
  • 02 occupant restraint citations
  • 01 driving revoked license for driving under the influence arrests
  • 48 traffic control (stop sign) violations
  • 25 other citation
  • 04 traffic arrests
  • 01 criminal felony arrests (PCS)

The enforcement effort focused on the leading contributory causes of crashes: speeding, impaired driving, electronic device use, failure to yield and disobeying traffic control signals, as well as occupant restraint violations.

The STEP campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
