Oak Lawn Police Release Thanksgiving DUI Scorebard
Oak Lawn police Issued dozens of citations for impaired driving, speeding and seatbelt scofflaws during Thanksgiving patrols.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Ramped up DUI and seatbelt enforcement patrols resulted in dozens of traffic citations in Oak Lawn between Nov. 17 and Nov. 27. Oak Lawn police were out in force over the Thanksgiving holiday, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket mobilization campaign. The Oak Lawn Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.
During the ten-day mobilization period, Oak Lawn police issued the following citations:
- 116 seat belt citations
- 1 child seat citation
- 2 DUI arrests
- 1 felony arrest
- 3 fugitives apprehended
- 4 suspended/revoked licenses
- 5 uninsured motorists
- 13 speeding citations
- 1 drug arrest

- 9 child seat citations
- 8 DUI arrests
- 2 fugitives apprehended
- 27 suspended/revoked licenses
- 62 speeding citations
- 1 drug arrest
“Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers, front or back, are caught not wearing a seatbelt, you will be cited for the violation,” says Sgt. Michael Acke, traffic unit supervisor for the Oak Lawn Police Department.
