OLPL introduces inaugural “One Book, One Oak Lawn” and invites community members to read “Ready Player One”

The community wide initiative is similar to others held across the county and nation, and it is time that Oak Lawn had its own. The featured book is “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline and takes place from September to October. The goal is to have as many people as possible reading the novel, sharing their thoughts and discussing the issues that connect us a community.

Book Discussion Packets

If you’re in a book group or would like to assemble one to participate in “One Book, One Oak Lawn,” we have everything you need to hold the discussion. Stop by the Adult Services Desk to pick up a packet with author interviews, biographies, discussion questions, book reviews, information on the upcoming movie to be directed by Steven Spielberg and even a suggested menu to fit in with the theme. All you have to do is read the book!

Quizzes

Test your knowledge of 1980s pop culture and the book itself by taking fun quizzes available at the Adult Services Desk. Two quizzes about video games and movies and two about the book will be offered for the weeks of Sept. 25, Oct. 2, Oct. 8 & Oct. 16. Winners will be drawn from the correct entries, and they will be notified at the end of each week about receiving small prizes.
