OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School senior Nathan Radloff is leading the world in the Vocabulary.com Vocabulary Bowl competition. The organization strives to equip learners with the building blocks of language and close the word gap so that students can achieve at higher levels.

Radloff is leading by 303 words as of Nov. 4. Radloff eclipsed Singapore last week, who held both the first and second-place positions. His original goal was to make the top ten leaderboard, but after mastering the words, he decided to go for first place.

To achieve this feat, Radloff shared his tips for mastery with English teacher Amy Perras’s Spartan Plus. He creates his own list, looks at visuals instead of definitions of the words, and uses synonyms to learn new words.
