Oak Lawn Community High School senior Yusra Abdelrahman is committed to excellence and thrives on a challenge.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School senior Yusra Abdelrahman has been recognized as a National Merit Scholar Finalist. The nationwide pool of finalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference. National Merit Scholarship winners of 2022 will be announced over the next several months beginning in April and concluding in July. These scholarship recipients will join more than 362,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
“Yusra is an incredible independent learner, high self-motivated, and has the ability to understand abstract concepts in simple terms,” OLCHS calculus teacher Lisa Sampson said. “She asks questions that are always one step ahead of the material, showing an innate ability to predict connections to future topics. She is committed to excellence and thrives when being challenged.”
