Oak Lawn Spartan Bowler Ramiro Garcia Named Athlete of the Month
Ramiro Garcia's outstanding bowling in January led the Spartans to a SSC Red Championship and a second-place finish in the IHSA Regional.
OAK LAWN, IL — Senior Ramiro Garcia has been a model of consistency for the Oak Lawn Community High School boys bowling team through the years, and this year was no different. His outstanding bowling in January led the Spartans to a South Suburban Conference Red Championship and a second-place finish in the Illinois High School Association Regional. For this feat, Garcia is Oak Lawn’s January Athlete of the Month.
Garcia was the 2023 SSC Red Individual Conference Champion, knocking down 1,322 pins in six games. He averaged 220 per game and won the tournament. One week later in the regional, he placed fifth overall with 1,303 pins and an average of 217 in six games. The Spartans fell just 27 pins short of winning the regional championship.
“Ramiro led the varsity this season with a 221 average,” said head coach Kevin Walery. “He had a great season and a great career.”
