OAK LAWN, IL — Each season the Illinois High School Association and the South Suburban Conference recognize athletes who excel in the classroom as well. The IHSA gives Scholastic Achievement Awards to seniors and juniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and completed at least one full season in an IHSA activity.

The SSC All-Academic Athletic Team recognizes senior varsity athletes who played in one full season in an SSC interscholastic activity and had a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Recipients from Oak Lawn Community High School for the winter season include:

  • In boys basketball, Bashar Nassar, Muhammad Abdelfattah, Kyle Rzepka, Erhan Osmani, and Dylan Walsh were recognized.
  • In boys bowling, it was Gavin Rybicki and Edward Smykowski who earned the recognition.
  • Omar Ali was recognized as a boys swimmer, and
  • Charlotte Gallian earned the recognition for competitive dance.
  • Cecily Santoro, Allyson Fernandez, Bianca Arriaga, and Annette Gubala grabbed the award In competitive cheer
  • In girls basketball, it was Jacky Canales, Briana Torres, Maeve Hassett, Kaitlyn Berkery, Lamia Quinones, and Rihana Osmani.
  • The girls bowlers who were recognized were Diany Lara, Amanda Youngren, Carrie Wright, Allison Brown, and Natalie Orozco.
  • The wrestlers included Mostafa Odeh, Charvelle McLain, and Jaretzy Ornelas-Ramos.
