OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School students collected four keys at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program, the nation’s oldest and longest running most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.

Students submitted their original works. Gold and silver keys, or honorable mentions and move to compete at the national level if they win a gold key.

Oliver Rabideaux won a silver key in film and animation. Eli O'Grady won a gold key (a top award) in drawing and illustration. Eileen O'Neill won a silver key in digital art. Shelbylyn Dykstra won two honorable mentions for photography.

“Participation in an art competition requires skill and bravery,” OLCHS art teacher Ailysh Cooper said. “We are so proud of our students who sent in artwork to be judged and displayed.”

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
