OAK LAWN, IL—This fall, when the Oak Lawn Community High School varsity football team takes the field beneath the Friday night lights, the Spartans will be sporting new uniforms incorporating details from the U.S. Army and Navy jerseys.

It will be the first time the Spartans have had a chance in uniform since before Ryan Pattison was hired as head football coach in 2021.

“The uniforms are designed to blend elements from both Army and Navy football,” said Vince Olejniczak, community relations manager for OLCHS. “The gothic-style numbering is inspired by Army’s 2025 uniform set from their matchup against Navy, while the shoulder stripes—featuring arrow motifs that mirror the middle stripe on our helmets—draw inspiration from Navy’s 2024 design against Army.”

Olejniczak added the choice to combine these details was a tribute to both programs, “since [OLCHS] also runs the triple-option offense, a scheme traditionally associated with Army and Navy at the Division I level.”
