Dash, Crawl, Race In OLCHS Project Fire Buddies Field Day Fundraiser

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School students are hosting a field day fundraiser Saturday, May 10, for Project Fire Buddies. The field day runs from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Spartan football field, 9400 Southwest Highway, and is open to all area children.

Kids ages 5 through 11 can register online at OLCHS Project Fire Buddies for $5. Day-of-event registration will also be available. The cost is $5. Parents are free.

The scheduled events include:

1 p.m. - Sack race
1:15 p.m. - Army crawl race
1:30 p.m. - 50-yard dash
1:45 p.m. - Three-Legged Race
2 p.m. - Dress Up Relays
2:15 p.m. - Soccer relay
2:30 p.m. - Spoon race

Last year, students raised $500 for Project Fire Buddies, where local firefighters build bonds with critically ill children through visits, gifts and companionship. They’d like to get more kids.

Refreshments and food will be available for purchase. A bouncy house, corn hole, face painting, Bozo Buckets, a hula-hoop marathon and much more are also featured. For more information, email OLCHS head girls cross-country coach, Susan Szala at sszala@olchs.org.
