Oak Lawn Woman Charged With Assaulting Student At Charter School
Oak Lawn woman surrendered herself to police after being accused of sexually assaulting one of her students at a South Side charter school.

CHICAGO, IL -- An Oak Lawn woman is accused of molesting one of her students at a South Side K-12 charter school. Megan Kotarski, 28, appeared for a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual assault. Kotarski taught high school English at Horizon Science Academy-Southwest, She had been placed on unpaid administrative leave after the allegations of misconduct with a student came to light earlier this month.
According to new reports, Kotarski forced a 16-year-old male student to fondle her during an unauthorized party at her home during a summer volleyball league between June 16 and June 18. Prosecutors said Kotarski was a passenger in her own car and had let another student drive to drop off kids who had come to her house to drink beer. She placed the teen’s hand under her shirt and pants when he went to change the car stereo, ABC-7 Chicago reported.
Kotarski resigned from her teaching position on Nov. 10. She turned herself into Chicago police on Tuesday without incident. Bail was set at $10,000. She is not allowed to have contact with minors under 18 while her case is pending.
