Oak Lawn Woman Packing .38 Smith & Wesson Arrested at Bridgeview Courthouse: Sheriff

Sheriff's deputies found the gun and as woman was going through courthouse security, Cook County Sheriff's Office says.

Denise Smith, 47, of Oak Lawn and gun allegedly found on her person.

An Oak Lawn woman was arrested after she was found carrying a gun into the Bridgeview courthouse Wednesday morning, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Denise Smith, 47, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon on government property and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card.

Sheriff’s deputies found a loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver on Smith’s person as she was going through courthouse security, according to a sheriff’s police investigation.

Smith was taken into custody. Sheriff’s police said that Smith did not have a conceal-carry permit.

The Oak Lawn woman is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Thursday at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
