Oak Lawn's First Responders Square Off in Charity Hockey Game

Oak Lawn's bravest and finest play for bragging rights and local charity in annual hockey grudge match on Sunday, May 18.


Oak Lawn’s favorite grudge match gets underway when police officers and firefighters square off Sunday evening in the annual charity hockey game.

The puck drop is 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena, 9830 S. Kenton Ave. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students. Tickets will be sold at the door only. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.

Every year, the Oak Lawn Police and Fire Departments get together for a friendly game of hockey, playing for bragging rights and a local charity.

Proceeds from this year’s game will go to the Illinois Chapter of Concerns for Police Survivors, an organization dedicated to helping families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

There will also be a split the pot raffle.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ first Western Conference playoff game kicks off mid-afernoon on Sunday, so you’ll have a plenty of time to watch the Hawks’ game and attend the OLPD vs. OLFD game.

If you’re still in the mood for some hockey, drop by the Ice Arena to watch Oak Lawn’s bravest and finest wheeze around the old ice.
