OLCHS Senior Annie McGrath Rises To Legacy Of Older Sisters In Girls Track And Field
McGrath follows in her older sisters' storied footsteps with impressive finish in Oak Lawn Community High School girls track and field.
OAK LAWN, IL — Coming from a family with older sisters who starred in girls track and field at Oak Lawn Community High School in the past might put pressure on a younger sibling now attending the school. With older sisters Maddie (pole vaulter) and Emma (distance runner) having blazed a trail as Spartans, senior Annie McGrath met the expectations this year and rose to the McGrath challenge.
She took on running hurdles late last season as a beginner, but by this year’s Reavis Co-Ed Invitational, she was the 100-meter hurdles champion. She followed that up with a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Then, at the South Suburban Conference Red meet, Annie closed out her career with impressive third-place finishes in both hurdle events, and she took fourth in pole vault.
“Annie cements her name in the McGrath family track and field legacy with style and grace,” head coach Joe Butler said. “The program will surely miss this talent.”
