OLCHS Class of 2020 Takes Victory Lap Around Campus
Oak Lawn Community High School holds social distancing celebration for graduating seniors and their families.
OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn Community High School’s Class of 2020 took a victory lap around the campus Tuesday for a drive-thru celebration. Seniors were allowed to jump out of their family vehicles for a quick picture in front of their soon-to-be alma mater.
A more formal graduation ceremony will take place Wednesday, July 29, pending any pandemic developments. Diplomas and covers will be mailed to graduates’ home in early June.
Students have not been at school since March 13, when Gov. J.B. Pritzker closed the state’s public and private schools to slow the spread of coronavirus. The drive-thru celebration marking the milestone took place on the same evening when graduation was originally scheduled at Saint Xavier University’s Shannon Center.
