OAK LAWN, IL — For Oak Lawn Community High School senior Eoin Burke, earning a Chick Evans college scholarship runs in the family.

Burke has been caddying at the Beverly Country Club since eighth grade. He is a member of the Spartan track, bowling and golf teams. The Chick Evans Scholarship is a full housing and tuition college grant offered to golf caddies.

For more than 90 years, the Western Golf Association has overseen the Evans Scholars Program, which is among the nation’s largest privately funded scholarship programs. It is named in honor of legendary amateur golfer Chick Evans, whose charitable legacy was to help send deserving caddies to college.

Burke follows in the footsteps of his sisters, Lauren (2021) and Grace (2022), saving their parents a bundle in college tuition.
