OLCHS Speech Team Finds Success At IHSA State Tournament

OAK LAWN, IL — The Oak Lawn Community High School speech team ended its season on a successful note, placing 14th out of 85 schools at the IHSA State Speech Tournament Feb. 16 to Feb. 17 in Peoria

Maya Quinonez took 5th place in the State in prose Rreading, and Orlando Ramirez came home with a state championship in original comedy.

“We are beyond proud of Orlando and Maya, two truly dedicated leaders of our team, OLCHS speech coach Mike Olsson said. ”A well-earned congratulations to them both, and our entire team, who rallied behind these seniors to support the heck out of them at the state tournament.”
