Oscar Mayer Weinermobile Cruising Into Oak Lawn

Come visit the famous Oscar Mayer Weinermobile at the Oak Lawn Mariano's this Saturday, Sept. 3.

OAK LAWN, IL -- If you’ve ever imagined yourself touring the country behind the wheel of a giant hot dog, then come to Mariano’s in Oak Lawn for an up-close look at the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.

The famous weinermobile will be visiting Mariano’s, 11100 S. Cicero Ave., from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. Come visit the hot doggers as they pass out samples, specials and pictures with the weinermobile.

A German-American named Oscar F. Mayer began selling quality meats and sausages with his brother, Gottfried, in Chicago in 1883. It was the original Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl, who first came up with the weinermobile concept in 1936 as a way to promote the company’s “Yellow Band” gold standard processed meats.

Today there are six Oscar Mayer weinermobiles criss-crossing America. Each is 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels, driven by a friendly hot dogger.
