Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Coming To South Side Fairplay Food Stores

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be visiting Fairplay Foods in Markham, Oak Lawn, Worth, Hickory Hills and Chicago, May 26 to May 29.

OAK LAWN, IL — Yay! The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is coming! The giant hot dog on wheels will be visiting Fairplay Foods locations on the South Side and south suburbs over Memorial Day weekend.

The first Wienermobile was created in 1936 by Carl Mayer. The 1952 Wienermobile is currently on exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich. In 1969, the Wienermobile featured Ford Thunderbird tail lights and a Chevy motor home frame. It averaged 187 miles to the gallon, according to the Oscar Mayer website. The 27-foot-long Wienermobile is one of six currently crisscrossing the United States.
