Palos Park Man Charged With Burglarizing Cars

Oak Lawn resident watched man remove items from his car, prosecutor said.

A Palos Park man was arrested after an Oak Lawn resident watched him enter his car and remove items, prosecutors said Tuesday in court.

Steven Padilla, 19, was appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on charges of burglary to motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

The prosecutor said that Padilla was spotted May 30 in the 5100 block of Oakdale Drive, Oak Lawn taking stuff out of a vehicle.

Court records also showed Padilla removing a bottle of Levothyroxine from another car. Police said they found stolen items in Padilla’s car, including a large amount of change and one pill of Alprazolam

Padilla is currently out on bond for a pending felony theft charge, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that is a graduate of Stagg High School and works in the family business.

Judge Felice set bail at $30,000 for the new charges and ordered random drug testing should Padilla bond out of jail. A violation of bail bond was also filed on the pending felony theft charge.

Padilla’s next court date is June 21 in Bridgeview.
